Counseling and Advisement

Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) students work with a patient and understanding staff who are available to assist with financial, academic, career, and personal concerns. Counseling is a strong component of our program. Our advisement approach facilitates a strong rapport with the student body and enables students to achieve academic success.

Each EOF student meets with his or her assigned EOF counselor twice each month or at the discretion of the counselor to receive academic guidance and support. EOF meetings allow staff to ensure the student is meeting program and institutional guidelines. EOF meetings also provide students with an opportunity to share concerns and build a rapport with their assigned counselor.

Once a student is selected for admission into the EOF program, all aspects of registration and advisement are completed with the EOF staff. Students will receive alerts on their account to meet with their assigned EOF counselor during various points in the academic year for check-ins or during registration periods.

Financial Benefit

EOF provides a maximum grant award of $1,250 for the academic year. Students must sign their EOF contract and abide by the terms outlined in order to receive their grant award. Students who fail to follow their contract requirements may have their EOF grant reduced or removed from their account at any time during the academic year.

Tutoring

Tutoring is a critical component of the EOF program. Additional support in various subject matters facilitate academic success. Both the Gloucester and Cumberland campuses work closely with the Tutoring Centers to ensure EOF students are provided with the necessary assistance for their coursework. Students who are experiencing difficulty in their classes will be referred to the Tutoring Center, an EOF Peer Tutor for additional assistance with coursework.

UPDATE!!!

Both campuses have also put in place exclusive access to 24/7 online tutoring for EOF students accepted into the program!

Gloucester EOF students please visit https://www.thinkingstorm.com/RCSJEOFG/Default.aspx to utilize online tutoring services.

Transfer Assistance

Students who seek to transfer to another institution will receive help from their EOF counselor with the process. Students who plan to transfer to an accredited four-year institution in New Jersey that participates in EOF will be required to complete documentation to validate participation in the RCSJ EOF program. For more information regarding the transfer out process, please visit the Transfer link on the left side of our webpage.

Workshops

The EOF staff and members of the RCSJ College community conduct various workshops to strengthen EOF students' understanding of college processes and enhance academic skills. Workshops are an opportunity for EOF students to collaborate with peers and engage with EOF staff.  One mandatory workshop is required during each semester of enrollment in the EOF program. Failure to complete a mandatory workshop requirement may result in the removal of your EOF grant and/or future participation in the EOF program.
