Priority Admissions Program

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Priority Admissions Program?

The Priority Admissions Program assists students in navigating the college admissions, financial aid and class registration processes. Rowan College of South Jersey recruiters visit high school campuses to help juniors and seniors prepare for the transition to a collegiate education at either the Cumberland or Gloucester campus.

Do all students have to take the Placement Test?

Rowan College requires all newly-admitted students to take the College Placement Test or provide the college with an exempting SAT, ACT, and/or PARCC score report. See our main page for links to each campuses exemption criteria.

What does the Placement Test provide?

This exam assesses students' current ability levels in reading, writing and mathematics to aid in course selection. All incoming students must take the placement test after admission but before registering for classes. Students may be exempt from having to take all or part of this exam by providing proof of exemption.

Where can I take the Placement Test?

Students can schedule to take the Placement Test at their campus Testing Center. Students should speak with their high school counselor to determine if Rowan College is hosting an Accuplacer Placement test event at their school.

What is Priority Registration?

Students who satisfy the placement test requirement, or show proof of exemption, may participate in Priority Registration. This aspect of the Priority Admissions Program gives students the opportunity to meet with an academic advisor and register for courses — before other incoming freshmen.

How do I know if my high school participates in the Priority Admissions Program?

The Priority Admissions Program homepage lists all the current participating high schools.

What if my high school does not participate in the Priority Admissions Program?

Students can still jump start their pursuit of higher education. Interested perspective students can make an appointment with one of the College's recruiters to discuss the admissions process.
