Automotive Technology, A.A.S. (Gloucester)

​​​​​Alternating sessions and internships at a local Ford or Lincoln/Mercury dealership provide theory in practice that qualifies graduates for gainful employment as service technicians.​

​The Automotive Technology program is a cooperative agreement between Rowan College, the Gloucester County Institute of Technology and the Ford Motor Company. The associate in applied science (A.A.S.) degree is a full-time, two-year program composed of five 20-week semesters. Alternating 10-week sessions of classroom/laboratory instruction and internship at a local Ford or Lincoln/Mercury dealership provide theory and practice, in addition to hands-on experience, that qualifies graduates for gainful employment as service technicians.​

​Program Goals
Students who have completed the program will be able to demonstrate knowledge of:
  • Safely and competently work in an automotive repair facility
  • Understand all eight National Institute for Automotive​ Service Excellence areas of automotive technology, regardless of manufacturer. These include electrical, brakes, steering, power-train controls, automatic transmissions and others
  • Diagnose and fix all major automotive systems
  • Demonstrate social skills and a high level of professionalism
