Testing at Cumberland

We want to make sure that you’re placed in the most appropriate and effective courses for your skill level.

Please Note: If you are a NJ STARS student, you are considered to be at college level placement for both math and English, and therefore, do not need to take the Accuplacer exam. Please email if this applies to you.

*During the COVID pandemic, please refer to our Remote Testing page.

To help with your course placement, you may be asked to take the ACCUPLACER as part of your enrollment. The ACCUPLACER assesses your basic skills in the areas of reading, writing, arithmetic, algebra and statistics. Introductory college-level courses require that you test out of reading and/or complete the recommended course(s) based on the ACCUPLACER.

ACCUPLACER is a computerized test.  We recommend that you take it as soon as possible so your placement information and course recommendations will be available for advisement.

Below you'll find a schedule of dates, times and locations for testing.  Each test begins at the starting time and takes approximately three (3) hours to complete.

You Might Not Have to Take the Accuplacer

All testing will be held in the Testing Center, in the Catherine J. Arpino Education & Humanities Center, first floor, ASL Lab.
