Testing at Cumberland

We want to make sure that you’re placed in the most appropriate and effective courses for your skill level.

To help with your course placement, you’ll be required to take the ACCUPLACER as part of your enrollment. The ACCUPLACER assesses your basic skills in the areas of reading, writing, math computation and elementary algebra. Introductory college-level courses require that you test out of reading and/or complete the recommended course(s) based on the ACCUPLACER.

ACCUPLACER is a computerized test.  We recommend that you take it as soon as possible so your placement information and course recommendations will be available for advisement.

Below you'll find a schedule of dates, times and locations for testing.  Each test begins at the starting time and takes approximately three (3) hours to complete.

You might be exempt from taking the Accuplacer if you:

  • Are transferring from another college and have successfully completed equivalent college-level courses, including English and mathematics or
