The Gloucester County Police Academy is now accepting applications for civilians interested in enrolling in an Alternate Route Basic Police Training course, slated for March and August 2023.
Applicants must reside in New Jersey and have earned at least 60 college credits from a regionally accredited school by December 31, 2022 (with a minimum 2.0 GPA) or have two years of full-time active military service. Candidates are required to pass a thorough selection process, which includes a physical fitness test, written exam, background check, oral interview, medical examination and psychological assessment prior to admission. Students satisfying the initial program requirements will be invited to complete a detailed formal application. College students, graduates, veterans, women and minorities meeting the program's criteria are encouraged to apply. Deadline for applications is September 28, 2022, at 4 p.m.
Graduates of the 19-week Alternate Route Training program will be eligible to become New Jersey police officers provided they are employed full time within three years of graduation from the academy.
