The venerable Rowan College of South Jersey–Cumberland Bands will be performing throughout South Jersey this spring and summer.
The Rowan College of South Jersey–Cumberland (RCSJ) Campus Bands will showcase their musical talents at their annual Spring Campus Concert on Saturday, April 27. This program, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Guaracini Center, beginning at 2 p.m.
The concert will display the brilliant musicianship of the College’s Jazz Band and Wind Symphony, along with select vocalists. Concertgoers can look forward to experiencing a wide representation of band literature that will celebrate “Music of the World.”
The Jazz Band will play songs such as, “April in Paris,” “Blue Skies,” and “Satin Doll,” along with varied vocal repertoire. Wind Symphony selections will include, “Malaguena,” “Funiculi-Funicula,” and “Danny Boy.”
The Cumberland Campus Bands are engaged in their 41st performance season with Joseph Akinskas, adjunct music education professor, and founding director of the campus bands.
In addition to the Spring Campus Concert, the bands are participating in RCSJ–Cumberland’s 5th Annual Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, May 9, commencing at 6 p.m. The bands are also pleased to announce they will again host the South Jersey Community Band Festival which takes place a week later Thursday, May 16, starting at 6 p.m.
Throughout the Summer of 2024, the RCSJ–Cumberland Campus Bands will be taking their show on the road. You can find them performing at the following locations, with dates and times included:
July 4: Giampietro Park, Vineland at 8 p.m., prior to the fireworks display.
July 10: Wesley Manor, Ocean City at 7 p.m.
July 26: Canale Park, EHT at 7 p.m.
August 2: Cape May Rotary Park at 7 p.m.
August 23: Cape May Zoo at 2 p.m.
