Nursing & Health Professions Division

Health Science, A.A.S. (Gloucester)

​This program of study is designed to introduce and enhance career opportunities in various Allied Health disciplines. There are two distinct pathways for students attempting to earn this Health Science degree; introductory to career field and career advancement for those holding a current Allied Health certificate for their discipline.

Students who hold an approved medical license or certificate can complete the remaining degree program electives to earn a degree in Health Science. 

Students interested in pursuing one of the following RCGC Allied Health Pathways will automatically be placed in the Health Science degree program: 

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
  • Diagnostic Medical Sonography [SA]
  • LPN-RN Track
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology [SA]
  • Nursing [SA]
  • Physical Therapist Assistant [SA]
Once a student has been accepted into a selective admission [SA] program, their degree will be changed to the respective major. In the event students decide not to pursue one of the above selective admission programs, they will also have the option to complete the remaining electives for the Health Science degree.

Program Goals
Upon completion of the Heath Sciences program of study, students will be able to:

  • Analyze health care systems and organizations
  • Use learner-centered principles to teach colleagues, patients and the community- at-large about health and medical issues.
  • Locate information needed to make decisions related to health services and systems
  • Perform a career search in health services related fields
Admissions
Rowan College welcomes students seeking a post-secondary education. Admission to this program is open to high school graduates, High School Equivalency (HSE) recipients or others who can benefit from the instruction offered. High school students may be considered for early admission or for the High School Option program. Applications are accepted from residents of other New Jersey counties and other states and countries.

​Transfer Options
Through the College’s new premier partnership with Rowan University and other college partnership programs, students are admitted concurrently to Rowan College and one of its partnering universities —​ immediately beginning their studies toward an advanced degree. 

In addition, the College also maintains 75 program articulation agreements with four-year institutions. After successfully completing an associate degree, students have the option to transfer to the university of their choice.

Rowan students transfer to these universities, as well as others:

  • Rowan University
  • Wilmington University
Students may visit the Career and Planning (CAP) Center to discuss transfer options.​

Career Opportunities
Through this program, students complete the initial degree for pharmacy technicians, dental assistants and similar allied health positions.
