The Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) Foundation set the tone for its future with a sold-out crowd of more than 230 supporters at this year's Blue & Gold Gala, held Thursday, April 24, at The Grove at Centerton. The theme, Charting a Course for Student Success, captured more than just the evening's spirit—it marked the Foundation's official debut under its new name, with a fresh look and an expanded mission to serve students across Gloucester and Cumberland counties and beyond.

The Foundation, which supports both RCSJ campuses, used the evening to highlight its evolving role as a critical partner in helping students overcome barriers to education. From scholarships to emergency funding, the Foundation's reach continues to grow alongside its commitment to equity, access, and opportunity.

“We're so excited to share this new chapter with our community," said Cody Miller, Executive Director of Advancement and Foundation. “This updated brand is not just a visual change—it represents a unified commitment to every student we serve, no matter which campus they call home. Our work is about eliminating barriers, meeting students where they are, and helping them achieve what they might not have thought was possible."

RCSJ Foundation Board Chair Scott Dare followed Miller's remarks by recognizing the vital role of the Foundation's leadership and board members in advancing its mission—always with students at the center. “We've had challenges because things change," Dare said. “But it's because of you—our members—that we continue to make a difference. The students are important to us, and hearing their stories drives our mission. Their resilience and ambition remind us why we do this work and inspire us to keep pushing forward."

The event also honored longtime friend and partner Ray Rastelli, Jr., founder and president of Rastelli Foods Group, as the Foundation's 2025 Person of the Year. His recent investment helped establish the Rastelli Business and Corporate Center on the Gloucester campus—a space now helping to launch the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders.

Rastelli congratulated the student attendees, adding that he was a graduate of Gloucester County College fifty years ago, before it was RCSJ. “To be recognized is important he said, but to be recognized by this community is really what's important to me. He continued with his appreciation for the honor by recognizing the students' stories. “Hearing these students talk about chasing their dreams and staying right here in South Jersey—that's really awesome," Rastelli said during his remarks. “This region is full of talent. We need to keep that talent here, and we can do that by lifting each other up and investing in the future."

RCSJ President Dr. Fred Keating echoed the evening's theme with heartfelt appreciation for the Foundation's mission. “These are dreams," he said, gesturing to the students in attendance. “It's a good feeling to know that this college is alive and making a difference. And more importantly, our students feel like they belong. That's a special word—belonging. When students feel that it means they're connected to what the college is doing—and that's really the crown jewel of our work."

Among the students featured was Tyla N., a scholarship recipient and aspiring physician who plans to become a dermatologist or ophthalmologist when she attends Rowan University in the Fall.  “It just feels so good to be part of something bigger than yourself," she said. “To give back to a community that puts so much into me—it makes me so grateful to be here."

With a fresh new brand, an expanded mission, and an unwavering focus on students, the Rowan College of South Jersey Foundation is charting a strategic course—empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and inviting partners to help shape the future of South Jersey.

As the Foundation continues to grow and evolve, one thing remains constant: students are at the heart of everything they do. With stronger partnerships, broader support, and a renewed vision, RCSJ is more committed than ever to helping students chart their own course to success.
