Rowan College of South Jersey Hosts Veterans Day Celebrations on Both Campuses, Nov. 10–11

Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) will host Veterans Day ceremonies on both its Cumberland and Gloucester campuses to honor the bravery, sacrifice, and courage of America’s veterans. RCSJ's Cumberland Campus ceremony will be held on Nov. 10, and RCSJ's Gloucester Campus ceremony will be held on Nov. 11. Both ceremonies are free to the public.​

Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) will host Veterans Day ceremonies on both its Cumberland and Gloucester campuses to honor the bravery, sacrifice, and courage of America's veterans. The Cumberland Campus's Ceremony will be held on Monday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. in the Luciano Theater. The Gloucester Campus's Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. in the Gymnasium. Both events are free and open to the public. 

Organized by the RCSJ Student Veterans Chapter of America, each event will feature local veterans, college leaders, and community partners recognizing those who have served and continue to serve our nation. Speakers at the ceremonies include:

  • John Ryder, RCSJ Director of Student Affairs & Military Services, U.S. Coast Guard Desert Storm Veteran (Both Campuses)
  • Dr. Brenden Rickards, RCSJ Interim President (Both Campuses)
  • Edwin Alicea, Director of Public Safety, City of Vineland, U.S. Marine Corps Veteran (Cumberland Campus)
  • Daniel Murray, LPC, RCSJ Therapist, U.S. Marine Corps Veteran (Cumberland Campus)
  • Frank J. DiMarco, Director, County of Gloucester (Gloucester Campus)
  • Tom Bianco, Liaison to the Gloucester County Veterans Affairs Office (Gloucester Campus)
  • Frank Piccioni, Executive Director, RCSJ Collegiate High School, U.S. Navy Veteran (Gloucester Campus)

Each event will include a posting of the colors, performances of the national anthem, and a playing of taps. A Zoom link is available for those who cannot attend the Gloucester Campus event in person: https://rcsj-edu.zoom.us/j/89817491742. 

Following the closing remarks from each ceremony, an award presentation will take place, highlighting students, faculty, staff members, and attendees who have served their country.

RCSJ's Office of Military Services continues to ensure veterans have access to the benefits and support they need to succeed, both academically and personally. This year, RCSJ earned the designation of being a 2025-2026 Military Friendly School and a 2025-2026 Military Friendly Spouse School. ​RCSJ's Director of Student Affairs & Military Services, John Ryder, also received the prestigious 2024 Veteran Champion of the Year in Higher Education Award for his ongoing commitment to military students and local veterans.
