(Millville, NJ)– Rowan College of South Jersey’s Cumberland campus is now enrolling students in its comprehensive Automotive Repair Program, a hands-on training series designed to prepare individuals for national Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification and immediate employment as skilled automotive technicians.
Offered through RCSJ’s Career & Technical Education division, the program provides flexible, part-time evening courses that can be completed in just 8 to 12 months. Training takes place at the Cumberland County Technical Education Center in Vineland, where students gain real-world experience servicing both mechanical and electronic systems in modern vehicles.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, automotive service technicians in New Jersey earn a median salary of $57,290, with approximately 1,530 job openings expected annually statewide and 67,800 openings projected nationwide each year.
Automotive technicians perform a wide range of tasks including diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing routine maintenance, replacing or repairing parts, and ensuring vehicles meet safety and performance standards. With high demand, hands-on work, and opportunities to specialize in modern automotive technologies, it’s a rewarding and secure career path.
Students can take courses in any order, allowing maximum flexibility for working adults or career changers. Each course is aligned with ASE standards, preparing students to test for certifications and advance in the automotive service industry.
