​​​​​​​​NJBIA Workforce Skills Grant: 

These free workshops are available through a partnership between the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development, and the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Attendees must be employed by a registered New Jersey business and be paid for the time spent in training. Public and State employees are not eligible for this grant funded training, but there are other options available.​
 
Employees must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Employees must work either part-time (20 hours per week) or full-time
  • Employees must be paid by employer at their usual hourly rate while in training 
  • Employer must have a valid FEIN number, job title(s) and wage range of participant(s)
  • Public employees and unemployed persons are NOT eligible for this program

Social Media in the Workplace (Live Online) 8 hours

We are being flooded with Social Media invitations and updates. Web-based communication icons like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn are dominating the way we interact with each other. People are feeling the need to be updated at all times. It has become a time eater, and businesses are quickly becoming aware of the drain it can have on productivity. People love to share, but they need to know what is alright to share and what should not be sent out. 

Understanding Social Media is about communicating the right way. We are beginning to communicate more through electronic means than face to face. Talking on a phone has been replaced more and more with SMS (texting.) Social media channels are becoming the main form of communication and your participants will realize how Social media and the Workplace can work together.

This public speaking course is designed to help individuals develop and enhance their ability to communicate effectively and confidently in various public speaking situations. The course usually covers topics such as speech organization, delivery techniques, audience analysis, and persuasive speaking.

Body language Basics (Live Online)

Body Language Basics course is designed to help individuals understand the importance of body language in the workplace and develop the skills needed to use it effectively. This course is suitable for anyone who wants to enhance their communication skills, build better relationships, and improve their professional presence. 

Throughout the course, participants will learn about the key concepts and principles of body language, including nonverbal cues, facial expressions, posture, and gestures. They will explore how body language affects communication, including how it can convey confidence, interest, and sincerity, or undermine trust and credibility. 

The course will also cover various types of business interactions, such as interviews, meetings, presentations, and negotiations, and help participants identify how to use body language effectively in each context.

Ownership (Session 1)
Participants will be introduced to what it takes to start or purchase
a small business. Economic climate and other factors of business
ownership are discussed with an emphasis on a positive approach to
this series of seminars.

The Business Plan Part I: Planning Process (Session 2)
This seminar concentrates on the organization and elements of a
basic business plan. Learn the uses of a business plan and when and
why it is necessary – a must for people starting their own business
or business owners seeking financing.

The Business Plan Part II: Marketing and Promotion (Session 3)
This seminar continues from Part I, the Planning Process, by focusing
on the business plan and its affect on marketing and promotion for
the business owner.

Selling Skills for Your Business (Session 4)
Learn to plan and forecast your cash needs in order to start, operate,
or purchase a business. This step by step seminar concentrates on the
basics of cash flow planning. Learn to plan your own cash flow from
actual case studies. This seminar teaches you the proper format and
purpose of this vital part of operating a small business.

Financing a Small Business (Session 5)
Learn where and how to borrow money, the do's and don'ts of borrowing,
and the different sources of money available to you. Learn
how to build the proper banking relationship and what is needed to
secure that business loan.

Managing Personal Finances (Live Online)

The "Managing Personal Finances" course is designed to help individuals develop a better understanding of personal finance and to provide them with the tools and strategies needed to manage their finances effectively. The course is suitable for anyone who wants to improve their financial literacy, make better financial decisions, and achieve their financial goals.
Throughout the course, participants will learn about the key concepts and principles of personal finance, including budgeting, saving, investing, debt management, and retirement planning. They will explore different financial products and services, such as checking accounts, credit cards, loans, and insurance, and learn how to evaluate their options and choose the best products for their needs.

The course will also cover various financial goals and life stages, such as starting a career, buying a home, starting a family, and planning for retirement. Participants will learn how to set financial goals, create a budget, track their expenses, and develop a plan for achieving their financial objectives.

LEAN Process Improvement (Live Online) 12 hours

Our Lean Process workshop will provide an introduction to this way of thinking that has changed so many corporations in the world. The program consists of 14 sessions which include: Understanding Lean, The Toyota Production System, The five Critical Improvement concepts, Understanding Value with the Kano Model, types of Waste, The plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) Cycle, Using the R-DMAIC-S Model, Lean thinking tools, Kaizen Events, Data Gathering and Mapping, A Plan to Take Home.

Six Sigma: Entering the Dojo (Live Online) 12 hours

Six Sigma is a data-driven approach for eliminating defects and waste in any business process. You can compare Six Sigma with turning your water faucet and experiencing the flow of clean, clear water. Reliable systems are in place to purify, treat, and pressure the water through the faucet. That is what Six Sigma does to business: it treats the processes in business so that they deliver their intended result. This workshop will give participants an overview of the Six Sigma methodology, and some of the tools required to deploy Six Sigma in their own organizations.

QuickBooks is an accounting software program made by a company called Intuit. The program is geared toward small to mid-sized businesses. It is designed to help the business owner keep track of all aspects of their business from inventory, to daily sales, to payroll. QuickBooks can also produce financial reports such as a profit and loss statement or a balance sheet so that the owner can track the profitability of their business.

Microsoft Teams is the ultimate messaging app for your organization—a workspace for real-time collaboration and communication, meetings, file and app sharing, and even the occasional emoji!
