Initially she attended Gloucester County College—instead of her senior year of high school— and ultimately got a job rather than completing her second year of higher education. After spending nine years working in retail, Lisa decided to return to college to acquire skills for a new career. She graduated in 2010, and while in school applied for and received scholarships through the Rowan College Foundation. This inspired her to give back to others by organizing a fundraiser through the Foundation. To date, more than $20,000 has been raised for scholarships through Lisa's 10 years of fundraising efforts.

Rowan College of South Jersey's Gloucester campus is located at 1400 Tanyard Road in Deptford, just off Exit 56 of Route 55.
