Deptford Twp. – Individuals who serve as caregivers for
loved ones suffering from a chronic disease know that the role can come with a
lot of stress, and finding time to care for yourself while devoting so much
time to another can seem insurmountable. Thanks to a grant from the Division of
Health and Human Services, Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) is will offer a
solution through a series of workshops focused on self-care for caregivers.
The Stress-Busting Program for Caregivers is a series of
90-minute, small-group workshops that present practical tactics for stress
management and relaxation. Methods including meditation, art therapy,
journaling and music will be discussed, along with the role that stress can
play in one’s life, coping strategies and the importance of caring for one’s
own health.
Sessions will be held once a week for nine weeks, from 1 –
2:30 p.m., beginning on August 7 at the Gloucester County Human Services
Building, in West Deptford. The workshops are offered to caregivers at no cost,
but space is limited. For more information, or to register, call (856)
468-1742.
