    This program will prepare students to advocate for the rights of children by entering the workforce with an A.A. degree. Students in the program learn about vulnerable conditions that have negative consequences on children and adolescents such as disease, substance abuse, domestic violence, and child abuse and neglect. This multidisciplinary approach will offer students with a distinctive educational perspective with which to navigate the intricacies of the public child welfare system and beyond.

The program is structured to provide the student with exploratory academic experiences in criminal justice. Students who have completed the program will be able to Explain Crime and Criminological Theories, Explain Crime Sources, Trends, and Outcomes, Demonstrate Current Methods Used for Evidence Collection and Analysis, Articulate Criminological Theories, and Demonstrate the need for an organized approach to the management of an emergency incident.

    The goal of this certificate program is to provide students, who have already earned a Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree (which includes a minimum of 18 hours of general education credits), with the skills necessary to begin a career as a paralegal. In addition to requiring two computer courses, this program includes a practicum (internship), designed to provide on-the-job training to reinforce concepts introduced in the classroom.
