Horticulture, A.A.S. (Cumberland)

This program prepares students on the growing and breeding of plants as well as maintaining productive soils.

Program Goals

 Upon completion of this program, students should be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of the Anatomy and Physiology of vascular plants by identifying, selecting, and managing agricultural crops
  • Identify, select, and propagate woody and herbaceous plants used in the MidAtlantic region.
  • Recognize and evaluate key pests and propose solutions for pest management.
  • Display effective decision making, time management and project management skills in the horticulture industry through a field experience.
  • Locate, retrieve, and critically evaluate information and information sources
