Wendy's Presents Check to School Counts!

Wendy's Check Presentation
11/4/2020
VINELAND – Mr. Rob Rone, Vice President, QSC Restaurants Inc., presented a check of $10,000 to the School Counts! Scholarship Program administered by the Cumberland County Campus Educational Foundation at Rowan College of South Jersey – Cumberland Campus. The School Counts! Program is a unique scholarship created specifically for Cumberland County residents. It provides two-year tuition scholarships to RCSJ-Cumberland for students who earn four consecutive School Counts! certificates from 9 participating high schools.

“After graduating high school, I was concerned with having my parents take on the financial responsibility of my college education. Because of the tuition free scholarship through School Counts! I was able to lift some of that financial responsibility for them and I’ve had a very successful experience at Cumberland and look forward to continuing my degree in accounting.” — Laleshka Rivera Berrocales, Liberal Arts major

School Counts! exemplifies the core values that make the community strong. The program encourages and rewards high school students for the development of skills necessary for college success: punctuality, discipline, hard work, and motivation to achieve goals. In order to earn a School Counts! certificate in each year of high school, a student must:

  • maintain a 95% or better attendance record;
  • achieve a higher-than-average GPA;
  • successfully complete Algebra I; and
  • be scheduled to graduate from high school on time.
“It's with great pride and pleasure that our company makes this donation to the School Counts! Program. Growing up and now operating Wendy's restaurants in this very same community truly brings this experience full circle. I've been fortunate enough to see many kids work for us while attending school and participating in local sports or other programs. Watching these students grow up and go on to do great things is the ultimate reward as their employer. Being able to give to a program that provides these opportunities is something we are incredibly excited about”—Mr. Rob Rone, Vice President, QSC Restaurants Inc.
