RCSJ Announces 2019 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

On Wed., Nov. 20 at 6 p.m., Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) will host a dinner at Adelphia's in Deptford, N.J. to induct seven individuals and six teams into the Roadrunner Hall of Fame.

 

"We are excited to honor this talented class of inductees into the Roadrunner Athletic Hall of Fame," said Executive Director of Athletics Brian Rowan. "Each of these individuals have made significant contributions to the College's history of national success in junior college athletics."

 

RCSJ will honor the following 2019 Hall of Fame inductees:

  • Dimitri Athans – This former Kingsway Regional High School tennis standout became a two-time Roadrunner All-American. He will become the first men's tennis former athlete to be inducted into the Roadrunner Hall of Fame.
  • Greg Chew – A former star pitcher and draft pick, and current assistant coach with Roadrunner baseball program, Chew won National Championships with coaches Barry Davis and Rob Valli.
  • Dr. Abiola Majekundunmi – This former Clayton High School track standout in the sprints and throws was a two-time national champion for Roadrunner track and field.
  • Kristina Morgan – An Audubon High School alumna, inspirational MVP and winning pitcher in the 2011 and 2012 NJCAA National Championship games captured by the Roadrunners.
  • Bob Fredrick – Roadrunner Athletics administrator and former wrestling coach and athletic director at Paulsboro High School.
  • Wayne Murschell – Roadrunner Athletics administrator and former wrestling coach and athletic director at Pitman High School.
  • Fred Swartz – Roadrunner Athletics administrator and former football coach, track official, athletic director and sports announcer.           

Six teams will also be recognized at the dinner for their NJCAA National Championship performances:

  • The 1999 Baseball National Championship Team, introduced by Hall of Fame coach Barry Davis.
  • The 2000 Baseball National Championship Team, introduced by Hall of Fame coach Barry Davis
  • The 1999 Wrestling National Championship Team, introduced by Hall of Fame coach Mike Lamb.
  • The 2000 Wrestling National Championship Team, introduced by Hall of Fame coach Mike Lamb.
  • The 2010 Baseball National Championship Team, introduced by Rowan University coach Mike Dickson.
  • The 2010 Men's Tennis National Championship Team, introduced by Roadrunner coach and Athletic Director Brian Rowan.
