Q: What if a student has vision, hearing, or mobility issues and needs to request accessibility accommodations?
A: Individuals with physical disabilities who may need accessibility accommodations should contact the RCSJ Department of Special Services to request accessibility accommodations.
Since the Placement Test is untimed, students who qualify for an extra time accommodation do not need to make special arrangements to take the Placement Test.

Q: Why do we need to take the test?
A:The test provides a current assessment of your basic skills. Your test results will determine course placement.
Q: What is on the test?
A: Rowan College uses the Accuplacer Placement Test developed by
CollegeBoard(TM). It assesses your skills in reading, writing and mathematics.
Q: When may I take the test?
A: The test is available continually throughout the year. Check the
Placement Test page for scheduling. Students should take the Placement Test after admission to the College but prior to course registration.
Q: Do I have to pay for the placement test?
A: No, there is no fee for admitted Rowan College students.
Q: How long is the test?
A: The test is not timed, but allow a 3.5 hour time period to complete the test.
Q: What do I need to bring when I take the test?
A: On test day, remember to leave your cell phone in your car and please bring your Rowan College ID or a Photo ID (license, etc.)
Q: How do I obtain my results?
A: Your results will be available immediately after you complete the test.
Q: May I retake the test?
A: Rowan College allows students whose scores fall below college level in one or more skill areas to retake (challenge) the placement test. All students who wish to challenge must obtain the Challenge Form from the Testing Center and submit payment to the Business Office the day of their testing appointment.
