The Rowan College of South Jersey - Gloucester Campus Testing Center offers the
HSRT-AD (Health Sciences Reasoning Test – Associate Degree) as part of the selective admissions requirement for the RCSJ Generic Nursing Program.
The Health Science Reasoning Test –Associates Degree (HSRT-AD) is a multiple-choice test specifically designed for two year and certificate programs. The HSRT-AD is an online test administered in a timed setting and measures critical thinking as well as quantitative reasoning skills. The HSRT-AD presents a variety of scenarios in clinical and professional practice contexts with the information provided in text-based and diagrammatic formats. HSRT-AD questions ask test-takers to apply their skills in order to:
- Make interpretations
- Analyze information
- Draw inferences and warranted inferences
- Identify claims and reasons
- Evaluate the quality of arguments
The exam is timed (will not exceed an hour), computerized, and administered on campus. The cost is $40 per test and can be taken every 60 days. A photo ID is required. Please note: Remote Testing is not an option for HSRT-AD.
To prepare for the HSRT-AD:
Students can prepare by accessing sample questions. Sample questions are available using a mobile app called
Critical Thinking Insight by Insight Assessment - be sure to choose the “Sample Reasoning Skills Questions" assessment.

To pay for the HSRT-AD:
Payment can be made by debit/credit card at the RCSJ-Gloucester Testing Center; or at the Business Office, located in the Student Services building on the Gloucester campus, where cash is also accepted.
Proof of payment must be submitted to the Testing Center prior to scheduling your HSRT-AD appointment.

View Test Dates. Test dates are also published in the RCSJ Selective Admissions packets for the Nursing program. Seats are limited for all test dates. Students should be aware seats may fill before the established deadline registration dates.
To obtain test scores:
Instructions on how to obtain unofficial score reports will be supplied upon completion of the HSRT-AD. The official score report will be required when submitting your portfolio for selective admissions consideration. Official score reports will be prepared for those who meet the minimum score requirement for application to the Nursing program. The minimum Overall score required is 72. Qualifying students may contact the RCSJ-Gloucester Testing Center at 856-415-2268 or email
ssc@rcsj.edu to request an official score report. A photo ID is required when picking up your official score report.
