What is the Placement Test?
College South Jersey requires all newly-admitted students to
take the College Placement Test, which places students at their current
ability level in Reading, Writing and Math, or satisfy one of the
exemption criteria. The placement test is taken after admission to the
College but prior to course registration. Test results determine course
What Subjects are on the Placement Test?
Students are tested in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics: pre-algebra and elementary algebra.
What if a student has Vision, Hearing, or Mobility issues and needs to request accessibility accommodations?

Since the Placement Test is untimed,
students who qualify for an extra time accommodation do not need to
make special arrangements to take the Placement Test.
May I be Exempt From Taking the Placement Test?
Students who have achieved the required test scores
on the SAT®, ACT Composite
or PARCC may qualify for an exemption from portions of the College
Placement Test. Students should supply the Office of Admissions with a
copy of qualifying exemption scores.
