The Rowan College-Gloucester Library is a welcoming center for studying, working on computers, and doing research, with comfortable seating and various types of study areas (quiet study, study booths, collaborative study rooms). The Circulation, Research Help, and Technical Support desks are all staffed with friendly people here to help during the library's open hours.
Archives and Document Center
The Rowan College-Gloucester Archives and Document Center was established within the library to provide for the centralization, cataloging, and maintenance of important and historical college documents. Library staff are available to assist researchers and interested users in finding and copying required documents.
Some documents available in the Archives and Document Center are: Board of Trustee meeting minutes, Board Policy Manual, College Administrative Procedure Manual, union contracts, college catalogs, Middle States Commission on Higher Ed reports, accreditation self-studies, Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) reports, Annual Reports, Faculty Senate meeting & committee minutes, College Assembly meeting & committee minutes, strategic plans, historical ephemera.
A library digital scanner converts print documents into Word, PDF, and jpeg formats. Files can be saved to USB drives. There is no charge for using this scanner, which is located in the Archives Room.
Books & Media
The College's physical collection of print books and media (including DVDs and CDs) is searchable via the online catalog at www.login-libraries.org. This catalog also contains the holdings of other member libraries in the LOGIN consortium. Your valid, barcoded college library/ID card may be used to check out books and other materials from LOGIN member libraries. As an academic library, RowanSJ uses the Library of Congress Classification system with call numbers serving as the book's address on the shelf.
This section of children's books is for education students and visiting children alike.
Circulation Desk (856-415-2252)
The main Circulation Desk is the place to validate your RowanSJ ID card every semester, check out and return books & DVDs, request Reserves materials, and make interlibrary loan requests. The smaller Circulation Desk by the library's back exit is for checking out books and for ID validation.
Computers, Laptops, & Printers
The Library offers over 100 computers (laptop and desktop), 4 CAD/ Computer Graphic Arts computers, and 3 printers. Students use their Rowan College username and password to log on to computers on campus. Guests may sign for a temporary username and password at the Research Help Desk. Technical Support staff assists with any printing, Office program, or other tech issues that students may experience.
Printers/Copiers print in color or black and white, on single or double-sided paper. Students may print with their per-semester credit connected to their usernames, and the Technical Support desk has a price list. These machines also function as free scanners to email or USB. The library does not have a public fax machine.
These popular magazines are for in-library enjoyment.
The Gloucester County Law Enforcement Educational Resource Center has exhibits to educate the public about law enforcement. Open during library hours. Questions? Contact: 856-456-8288
Individual study carrels are tucked away in the corner of the library for quiet study.
Research Assistance Desk (856-415-2253)
Librarians are available to help students with their research and citation questions, to answer questions about accessing and using the library's online databases and print collection, and to develop search strategies.
Materials such as reprints, DVDs, and books are placed at the Circulation Desk at the request of faculty for in-library use by students. While some textbooks are on Reserve, the library does not typically purchase these items.
This larger group study and meeting room accommodates six and is available by reservation at the Circulation Desk.
These small rooms for group and individual study are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No need to sign in.
Technical Support Desk (856-415-6701)
