General Transfer Process

The transfer process for all colleges and universities includes completion of a transfer application and submission of official transcripts from all higher education institutions that you've attended. However, each college and university might have additional requirements, including such things as a transfer application fee, letters of recommendation, personal statements, high school transcripts, etc. Please be sure to check with the university you're interested in to find out what their requirements are.

Generally, plan to apply for transfer at the beginning of the semester prior to the one in which you want to start at your new school. So, for example, if you want to start at your new school in August of 2022, you should plan to apply in January of 2022. If you want to start in January of 2023, plan to apply in September 2022.

Official RCSJ Transcripts

To receive copies of your Official Academic Transcripts from RCSJ. Please email the completed form to [email protected]. Please follow the instructions on the form for transcript fee payment. Once the fee is paid, the Records Department with the process and send your transcript, as long as you do not have any holds on your account. To see if you have any holds on your account that would prevent us from sending your Official RCSJ Transcripts, please log into your Student Portal. Once you log in, seeing a yellow flag in the top left corner of the screen indicates that you have a hold on your account. Please contact the office that placed the hold in order to find out how to resolve it. If there is no yellow flag, that means that you do not have a hold, and we will be able to send your transcripts.

Rowan University Transfer Process

Your application for most majors consists of Rowan University's online Transfer Application and copies of your Official Academic Transcripts from RCSJ.

Please note that Rowan requires copies of your official transcripts from all higher education institutions; if you had attended or earned credit from any other college or university, please contact them directly to have them send copies of your official transcripts.

Those two components, your online application and your official transcripts, together make your application complete. However, if you have earned fewer than 24 credit hours, you will also be asked to submit your official high school transcripts. If you have earned fewer than 12 credit hours, you will be asked to apply as a Freshman through Rowan University Common App. Additionally, Rowan recommends that all applicants complete the FAFSA.

In order to obtain general admission into Rowan University, transfer students must have successfully completed a minimum of 12 college-level credit hours with a GPA no lower than 2.0. However, there are a few majors that have additional requirements:

  • Performing Arts – Art, Music, Theatre, Dance, Music Industries
  • Engineering - Biomedical, Chemical, Civil & Environmental, Electrical & Computer, Engineering Entrepreneurship, Mechanical
    • 3.5 GPA for guaranteed admission
    • 3.0 – 3.49 GPA for consideration
    • Please note this application usually takes longer for the engineering admissions committee to review
  • Business – Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, HR Management, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Supply Chain and Logistics
    • 2.5 GPA
    • Completed MAT 152 – Applied Calculus or MAT 108 – Calculus I
    • Completed MAT 103 – Statistics

Once Rowan University receives your online transfer application and all necessary official transcripts, they will review your application and give you a decision. You will be able to log back into your Rowan University application portal to see what that decision is. If you have been accepted, then your next step is to confirm your decision in your application portal.

A few days after you do this, you will be able to log back into that same application portal, and you will find a list of things to do. Among them is signing up for a remote advising appointment with your new Rowan University Advisor. Follow the instructions to locate your advisor by major and email him/her to set up a time.

For the next steps in the application and onboarding process, please take a look at the  University Partnerships Website.
