Future film director, Anthony Hairston of Camden, is focused on making the most of his RCSJ experience as he prepares for the next episode in his educational journey. The recipient of four Rowan College Foundation scholarships, Anthony will graduate in May 2020 and has been accepted to NYU, where he plans to pursue a degree in film production.
As a student at RCSJ, Anthony keeps busy serving as the vice president of scholarships for the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, working as an office assistant in the College’s Business Studies division and participating in the Minority Initiative on Leadership and Excellence program. This past summer, he was one of four students to be mentored by Emmy-award winning filmmaker and producer Ray Mamrak as part of the College’s Cooperative Education program—an experience that he says has taught him the “ins and outs of what to do behind a camera, and that will lead to more opportunities in the field.”
An advocate for personal growth, Anthony hopes to use his camera to inspire and encourage other students to put effort into their education and to follow their dreams. “Do what you love. That is where you will excel the most.”
