Admission to the RCSJ Practical Nursing program is selective, meaning it is not guaranteed and requires additional steps towards admission.

This program requires a portfolio with a checklist of duties, which must be completed by the deadline for admission consideration.
- Portfolio Opens: January 5, 2026
- Final Deadline: February 27, 2026 at 5 p.m.
- Decision Sent: April 2, 2026
- Decisions will be sent to your RCSJ student email.
Students can complete general education courses (non-PN courses) at either the Gloucester or Cumberland campus or transfer the courses from another institution. Applicants will choose one campus to complete the Practical Nursing program.
2026 PN Information Sessions
- All applicants must attend ONE information session from the dates below prior to submission of a portfolio.
- Advance registration is required for all sessions.
- Information sessions for the Nursing program and the LPN-RN Track do not count.
- Please note the format of the information sessions before registering.
- All information sessions will start promptly at the posted time and last about 1.5 – 2 hours.
- Late entries (10 minutes past start time) will be prohibited. Plan accordingly!

Practical Nursing Frequently Asked Questions
Nursing is available at Gloucester and Cumberland.
Admission to the Practical Nursing Program is highly competitive. There is no guarantee of admission, even if an applicant exceeds minimum program admission criteria in one or more areas.
Graduates from the Practical Nursing Programs at RCSJ earn an Academic Certificate in Practical Nursing.
Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX-PN) and to apply to a State Board of Nursing for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Course schedules may vary and are subject to change each semester. Students are required to provide their own transportation for clinical experiences. Clinical placements can be located within a 90-minute radius from Rowan College of South Jersey.
Students must be at least 18 years old by the first day of the fall semester.
When you earn your LPN, you may apply to RCSJ’s LPN-RN program.
