Prepare to make an impact on future generations with analytical prowess, societal knowledge, and a well-rounded education supported by critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Nurture. Shape. Inspire.

From History to Philosophy, Social Studies to Political Science, Early Childhood Education to a Professorial pathway — Rowan College of South Jersey’s Education & Humanities Division offers the perfect blend of classroom instruction and hands-on experience to prepare you to educate future generations.

The division provides access to one-of-a-kind degree and certificate programs, experiential learning opportunities, and personalized advisement to prepare students for meaningful careers in education and the humanities. Learn from faculty members who have spent their careers in the K-12 education system and benefit from the personalized attention that comes with small class sizes.

The Education & Humanities Division is home to the Future Educators Association, which provides an immersive and supportive learning community. Students are placed in small groups of 20-25 for the duration of their academic program, so they can attend classes, study, and explore the field of education together, to foster connection and academic success.

Your next big opportunity is waiting for you at RCSJ’s Education & Humanities Division.

Meet the Dean

“The biggest thing that the Education & Humanities Division, and RCSJ in general, offers is the level of personal interaction our professors have with students. When you hear us say we’re a student-centered college, that’s not just a phrase to us; it’s true.

I highly recommend this institution to all students. No matter what your aspirations are – whether you want to be a teacher, an engineer, or a doctor – it doesn't matter. We offer the opportunity to all of our students to get a quality education at an affordable price.”

Dr. Paul Rufino leads the development and management of education and humanities programs across the Gloucester and Cumberland campuses. With a deep commitment to aligning academic initiatives with industry needs, Dr. Rufino has played a pivotal role in expanding RCSJ’s program offerings, securing accreditations, and developing innovative curricula to prepare students for real-world success.

Pathway to Education students are eligible to apply for instructional aide and school district paraprofessional positions or a substitute teacher certification after earning 30 credits. Upon completion of the full, four-year program, graduates earn their B.A. in Inclusive Education from Rowan University and are eligible to apply for Elementary (K-6) and Special Education (P-12) teaching certificates.

Talk to your dean to find out how the pathway utilizes RCSJ’s 3+1 Program and offers early start options for high school students to provide a customized roadmap to accomplish your goals.
