Open Public Records ACT (OPRA)
The New Jersey Open Public Records Act (OPRA) is a state law (N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq.) that grants the public access to government records maintained by public agencies in New Jersey, ensuring transparency. It requires government entities—from state to local levels—to fulfill requests for documents, including, but not limited to, contracts, emails, and reports, unless they are exempted by law.
To submit an OPRA request, please complete the Open Public Records Act Request Form and return it to the Custodian of Government Records.
