RCSJ’s Ford ASSET Program Demonstrates Nationally Competitive Enrollment

Deptford Twp. — Rowan College of South Jersey’s (RCSJ) Ford Automotive Student Service Educational Training (ASSET) program is demonstrating strong performance on a national level, with enrollment and graduation outcomes consistently exceeding national averages over the past decade. 

The Ford ASSET program, which prepares students for careers in the automotive service industry through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on experience, has achieved several significant benchmarks that highlight the strength and quality of the program. 

Over the last 10 years, RCSJ’s Ford ASSET enrollment has averaged 4.5 students higher than the national average, demonstrating continued interest in the program and the career opportunities available to its graduates. During that same period, the program’s graduation rate has averaged 3.9 students higher than the national average, reflecting RCSJ’s commitment to supporting students through completion and preparing them for success in the automotive industry. 

“RCSJ’s Ford ASSET program is a tremendous example of what can happen when high-quality education, industry partnership and a commitment to student success come together,” said Dr. Brenden Rickards, president of Rowan College of South Jersey. “By providing students with industry aligned technical training, we are helping strengthen the region’s automotive workforce while creating pathways to meaningful careers.” 

The program’s success has also been recognized through Ford Motor Company’s performance standards. RCSJ’s Ford ASSET program met all criteria required to receive a $5,000 Performance Award from Ford Motor Company, further demonstrating its commitment to maintaining high standards in student preparation, instruction, and program performance. 

RCSJ’s Ford ASSET instructors are fully certified in all required areas of instruction, ensuring students receive training aligned with Ford’s industry standards and expectations. 

The program achieved 100% enrollment for its Fall 2026 cohort, underscoring the continued demand for skilled automotive technicians and the value of an education that combines technical training with industry-focused experience. 

The Ford ASSET- Automotive Technology program is a joint venture involving three cooperating participants: RCSJ, Gloucester County Institute of Technology (GCIT), and the Ford Motor Company. Ford supports 38 other such programs throughout the United States under the name of ASSET. 

ASSET at RCSJ is a 24-month curriculum. The Automotive Technology classes, which include lectures and hands-on shop experiences, are held at GCIT. Supportive liberal arts courses, including mathematics, science, and computer classes, are held on the RCSJ campus.  

The Automotive Technology courses cover bumper-to-bumper technical training on Ford automotive products, including the latest developments in engines, ignitions and fuel systems, on-board electronics, and computerized engine controls. All students who are admitted and successfully complete the two-year program will be awarded an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Automotive Technology.
