Program Learning
In the Industrial Maintenance Technician program, the Electrical Systems course teaches students to follow electrical power and control system safety procedures while working with industrial equipment. Students learn to read and interpret electrical control and power schematics, adjust limit switches and electronic sensors, and measure voltage, current, and resistance in circuits.
Training includes selecting, installing, and testing fuses and circuit breakers; installing and testing AC and DC motors, relay control components, and electro-fluid power circuits; testing and repairing electrical grounds; troubleshooting motor relay and solenoid-operated fluid power circuits; replacing control wiring using terminal and solder connections; and testing and replacing transformers. Upon completion, students will be prepared to sit for the NIMS Electrical Systems credential.
