Program Learning
Welding at RCSJ introduces students to the fundamentals of welding through a strong emphasis on hands-on learning. Students gain practical experience in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) and oxyfuel gas welding, while developing essential skills in welding and machine shop safety. Instruction in welding safety includes identifying common welding hazards, selecting and using proper personal protective equipment, and applying correct material handling methods.
The course also covers oxyfuel cutting techniques, where students learn to identify and properly use oxyfuel cutting equipment. Hands-on training includes performing straight-line and square cuts, piercing and slot cutting, beveling, washing, and gouging. Prior to course completion, students will prepare for and sit for the AWS D1.1 Structural Steel Certification.

Enrollment Instructions
1. Visit our enrollment website and select your course with the appropriate start date.
2. Click “Add to Cart.” You will be prompted to create a new student profile.
3. Complete your enrollment by submitting payment for the course.
4. Download and complete the enrollment packet, if applicable, and send to [email protected] or drop off at the Cumberland or Gloucester CTE Office.
