The Cybersecurity field is listed as one of the fastest growing fields by the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics. This program is designed to be approachable, practical, and a good foundation for further study. The associate in science (A.S.) degree in Cybersecurity is designed to provide two academic years of college study for transfer to a four-year college or university.

Students who have completed the program should be able to:

  • Identify security risks and summarize possible remedies
  • Use evidence-gathering protocols to locate, recover, and analyze digital evidence using forensics techniques and best practices for evidence recovery
  • Install and configure a Linux and/or Windows system and identify security risks and possible remedies
  • Apply for least one industry-recognized certification, such as CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), CompTIA CSA (Cybersecurity Analyst), CompTIA A+ (Hardware repair)
Cybersecurity test

RCSJ Associate of Applied Science degree in Cybersecurity graduate Aiden Rivera discusses his career and time at RCSJ. Aiden currently works as a penetration tester at the Department of Homeland Security. His job is to test government information systems to make sure they are secure. Highlights of his time at RCSJ include the cybersecurity lab, which gave him the training environment to hone his cybersecurity skills, as well as the availability of many cybersecurity certifications. Having his certifications paid for by the college set him up for success in his career. Aiden also praises RCSJ professor Anthony Haddad as another highlight RCSJ.
