Homeschool Students

Under NJ law, your child must be provided with an education that is academically equivalent to what he or she would receive in school.  RCSJ is not responsible for HS Graduation requirement guidelines or for determining course equivalencies. Please consult the NJDOE website for NJ Student Learning Standards, Standards & Assessment, and High School Graduation Requirements by Content Area. 

For comparison purposes, New Jersey's public high schools typically offer instruction in the areas below. The RCSJ course codes listed next to each content area may satisfy the requirements. However, this is not an exhaustive list. Course descriptions can be found in our Course Catalog. 

• Language arts (4 years): ENGL 101, ENGL 102 

• Math (3 years): MATH 101, MATH 102, MATH 103, MATH 105, MATH 110, MATH 120, MATH 130 

• Science (3 years): BIOL 107, BIOL 101, CHEM 100, CHEM 101, PHYS 101, PHYS 123, PHYS 115, GEOL 111, GEOL 112 

• World history (1 year): HIST 101, HIST 102, HIST 103, HIST 104 

• Civics and/or U.S. and New Jersey history (2 years): HIST 201, HIST 202 

• Health/safety/physical education (2.5 hours per week for 4 years): HPER 104, HPER 111, HPER 112, HPER 113, HPER 117, etc. 

• Financial/economic or business/entrepreneurial (1 semester): FINC 101 (online), ECON 101, BUSN 101 

• Visual or performing arts (1 year): THEA 101, ARTS 101, MUSI 101 

• Foreign language (1 year, or show proficiency): SPAN 101, SPAN 102 FREN 101, AMSL101 (in-person) 

• Career/technical/vocational (1 year) and “technological literacy,” civics, economics, geography, and “global content” (not as separate subjects, but “integrated” throughout): CISM 101, GEGR 102 

Coursework completed at RCSJ is displayed on the student's RCSJ transcript.  Students can access their unofficial Rowan College transcript by logging into their Student Portal. Students can obtain their official RCSJ transcript by requesting a copy from the Office of Student Records.   

RCSJ does not issue high school transcripts or diplomas. A high school diploma is not required for admission to RCSJ upon completion of high school, rather a final, official high school transcript. Many high school transcript templates are available online. However, you may wish to use:  HS Transcript Template.

RCSJ supports credit by examination and provides the opportunity for students to earn up to 30 credits through various academic examinations: CollegeBoard(TM) Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations, College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and Dantes Specific Subject Examination (DSST). Note: Homeschool students must contact AP Services and follow established deadlines outlined by CollegeBoard (TM).
