Surgical technologists play a critical role in patient care by supporting surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers before, during, and after surgical procedures. The Surgical Technology Program at Rowan College of South Jersey is designed to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and professional behaviors necessary to succeed in the operating room environment.
Statement of Pre-Accreditation Status
RCSJ is applying to seek initial accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA). The submission and acceptance of our application does not guarantee accreditation, and applying for accreditation does not grant any temporary accreditation status.
Graduation from a surgical technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA) is necessary for eligibility to sit for the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST®) examination, which is required for credentialing of surgical technologists in all states. In the event accreditation is not achieved, students will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Science as a contingency. Upon successful appeal by the college to CAAHEP and ARC/STSA for accreditation, students’ degrees will then be conferred as A.A.S. in Surgical Technology.
