EMT Training Program

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is the initial level of certification available for emergency medical services personnel. EMTs are the first to respond to the injured in emergency incidents such as automobile accidents or medical situations. They assess the nature and extent of injury, provide initial medical care and transport the patient to a hospital if necessary. EMTs have the basic knowledge and skills necessary to quickly stabilize and safely transport patients ranging from non-emergency and routine medical transports to life threatening emergencies. Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response system, while under medical oversight. Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic equipment usually found on an ambulance. Emergency Medical Technicians are truly a critical link between the scene of an emergency and the health care system.

Employment of EMTs is projected to grow 15% from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations.*
