Students, faculty, staff and community members will lace up their sneakers and make their steps count on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 8 a.m. on the Gloucester campus, when the Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) Foundation holds its second annual “Miles for MILE 5K Run & Walk” to support the Minority Initiative on Leadership and Excellence (MILE) Scholarship program.

Established in 2017, the MILE program supports minority students as they work towards their educational and career goals. Individuals participating in the MILE program include: first generation college students, first generation college students of immigrant parents, English as a Second Language students, students of the foster-care system and students of incarcerated parents. Created to improve the college experience for minority students, the MILE program offers transformative learning excursions, one-on-one mentorship, service projects, leadership development seminars, networking opportunities and resources for academic and professional growth.

Proceeds raised from the event will help to fund book and transfer scholarships and to assist with the program. This year’s Run & Walk sponsors include Insurance Consulting Services, Greyhawk, W.J. Gross, Inc., Angelini, Viniar & Freedman, LLP, Farmers Insurance, Ray Angelini, Inc., Federici & Akin P.A. and W.B. Mason.

Tickets are $15 for current students, $25 for early registration and $30 at the door.
