Program Learning Outcomes
The Plumbing Specialist certificate will provide students with the skills and technical knowledge required to become proficient in the plumbing trade. The certificate covers a broad range of topics, including pipe installation, water distribution systems, drainage, waste and vent systems, plumbing codes and regulations, and system troubleshooting. Students will gain hands-on experience with various tools and equipment, learning to install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Emphasis is placed on understanding and applying safety protocols, working with different materials such as copper, PVC, and galvanized steel, and ensuring compliance with local and national building codes.
Students who have completed the program will be able to:
- Understand the materials, techniques, and systems used in the plumbing industry
- Apply plumbing system design techniques in both residential and commercial plumbing
- Identify the tools, equipment and materials for correct usage in all types of plumbing applications

This program provides a great foundation for a career in the automotive trades – in dealership sales or service positions or different trades like electrical or HVAC. It’s a great stepping stone as a young adult and the possibilities are vast.
