The Board of Trustees is committed to providing orientation for new members of the Board and to the development of current members during their service on the Board. To foster orientation and development experiences for its members, a committee consisting of the officers of the Board and the College President will plan, implement, and evaluate such activities.
Orientation activities may include, but not limited to, participation in an orientation program after appointment; a campus tour; receipt and review of Board of Trustee materials such as the Board policy manual; informal meetings with faculty and staff; briefings on institutional affairs; invitations to campus events; and attendance at state, regional, and/or national meetings for trustees.
Development activities may include, but not limited to, participation in strategic planning and mission/goal setting activities; participation in occasional Board retreats to review the Board’s role, responsibility, and functioning; and attendance at state, regional, and/or national meetings for trustees.
