NJ STARS
The NJ STARS (New Jersey Student Tuition Assistance Reward Scholarship) is a merit-based state program that covers tuition costs (excluding fees and books) for up to five semesters.
New Jersey Student Tuition Assistance Reward Scholarship
The NJ STARS program, created in 2004 by the State of New Jersey, provides the state’s highest-achieving students with access to higher education. The Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA) is the governing agency that determines guidelines for state residency, refunds and repayment.
For more information regarding the program, please view the State of New Jersey’s Program Brochure.
Students should review the fact sheet that applies to their status:

Every NJ STARS student must complete the FAFSA and appropriate financial aid paperwork yearly by the appropriate deadlines. Failure to complete these items can result in loss of the student’s NJ STARS award.
All out-of-county students must submit a chargeback every semester by the deadline to the Business Office at Rowan College South Jersey to maintain their NJ STARS eligibility.
All incoming transfer students must meet with the NJ STARS coordinator before their first semester. Several documents must be completed before students receive their NJ STARS award.
NJ STARS I recipients also may have the opportunity to take advantage of NJ STARS II, which provides eligible students with a scholarship toward tuition at a participating New Jersey public four-year college or university.
