Policy: 8001
In its most elementary form, academic integrity encompasses the principles of an honest, fair, and continuing pursuit of the truth. As such, students are expected to author their own work. Moreover, this process should take place in learning environment where each participant has a responsibility for dealing fairly with the other members of the community. The advent of new technology, such as artificial intelligence, brings to light new and continuing opportunities for students to learn and implement current tools into their educational experience. It is necessary these technological tools be used with honesty, integrity, and the common goal of maintaining the final product as the student’s original work. Students and instructors are expected to use these tools in accordance with the individual course guidelines and the principles of academic integrity outlined by the College. The College is committed to these principles of academic integrity and the educational experience they foster. The expectation to uphold the standards of academic integrity and honesty, while pursuing the skills of digital literacy and information literacy is the continued responsibility of every member of the College community.
The President will have administrative procedures developed to further define and implement this policy.
