HAZING PREVENTION
Rowan College of South Jersey (“RCSJ” or “College”) is committed to a safe and secure campus free of hazing in any of its forms, physical, mental, psychological or financial. Hazing in whatever form is prohibited on campus. Violations of the College’s hazing policy will be met with, and disciplinary action to include, revocation of any charter and expulsion from school or termination of employment.
Both the state (Timothy J. Piazza Anti-Hazing Law) and the federal governments (Stop Campus Hazing Act) have enacted legislation to address hazing on campus.
The administration of the College has taken the following steps to ensure that RCSJ is in full compliance with both laws:
- Hazing statistics will be included in the Annual Security Report (ASR) effective with the 2026 issue (statistics for 2025).
- Faculty and staff (CSA’s) have been made aware of their responsibilities under the law to report any incidents of hazing. Professional development sessions and orientations have been scheduled for staff and faculty.
- Programs of hazing prevention and awareness have been developed and presented to students in print and media.
- Investigations and responses to reports of hazing have been assigned to Student Services.
- The compilation and publication of the Campus Hazing Transparency Report, if required, has been assigned.
