Policies & Procedures
Policy: 8009
The purpose of this policy is to communicate the essential provisions necessary to secure and respect those conditions conducive to the freedom to teach and learn.
College students are both citizens of the community at large and members of an academic community with the same rights and obligations of freedom of speech, peaceful assembly, and right of petition as other citizens. As members of the academic community, students should be encouraged to develop high ethical and moral standards, develop the capacity for critical judgment, and engage in sustained and independent search for truth. Free inquiry and free expression are indispensable to the attainment of the goal of an academic institution and include the transmission of knowledge, pursuit of truth, development of the individual student, and improvement of society.
The responsibility for management and control of the College rests solely with the Board of Trustees.
The President will have administrative procedures developed to assist students with their rights and responsibilities in all manner of petitions and appeals.
