Policies & Procedures
Policy: 4011
The Board of Trustees recognizes that Unmanned Aerial Systems, all referred to as “drones”, offer potential as tools for research and other educational functions as well as providing opportunities for recreational use and business pursuits.
However, the operation of drones poses safety hazards to persons and property and can result in legal liability; therefore, such uses must be carried out only by those with proper training and authority. The College will establish administrative procedures to ensure compliance with all legal obligations and reduce risks to safety, security, and privacy.
This policy does not apply to drone operations conducted by the Sheriff’s office, police departments, or first responders in accordance with applicable law.
Please refer to the administrative procedures before operating a drone on College property, or any other property for College-sanctioned activities.
