WEAPONS
The possession of dangerous weapons is prohibited on property owned by or under the control of the College.
Definition
A weapon is defined as any device that is designed to or traditionally used to inflict serious bodily injury. This includes, but not limited to:
- Any object that could be reasonably construed as a weapon; or
- Any object legally controlled as a weapon or treated as a weapon under the law; or
- Any replica of a weapon; and/or
- Any part of a weapon or replica; e.g., bullets whether real or inert.
Exceptions
The following exceptions apply:
- Sworn law enforcement officers in performance of their official duties;
- Retired police officers employed by RCSJ as a security officer in the Department of Safety and Security who meet the standards set forth in N.J.S.A. 2C:39-6: Retired Law Enforcement Permit to Carry a Handgun, also known as the Retired Law Enforcement Officer Program (“RPO”) and a Security Officers Registration Act class 2, also known as SORA 2 Certification;
- Military personnel in performance of their official duties;
- Armored vehicle guards in performance of their duties; and
- A weapon, real or replica, used in connection with a drill, public ceremony, or theatrical performance previously approved by the administration.
Permission to possess a weapon or ammunition on campus for instructional purposes must first be obtained in writing from the President or Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer.
