OFF-CAMPUS CONDUCT
Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) expects its students to conduct themselves as mature, responsible, and law-abiding members of the campus community, as well as the larger community in which students and RCSJ belong. As such, RCSJ students will abide by all federal, state, and local laws, and ordinances including, but not limited to those related to noise, traffic, parking, illegal drugs and consumption of alcohol. RCSJ students are expected, in their travel, conduct, and actions, to foster an atmosphere which nurtures positive community relations.
RCSJ will discipline students for Student Code of Conduct (see policy 8007 Student Code of Conduct) violations committed off-campus, when the Vice President, Chief Student Affairs Officer or designee determines the conduct adversely impacts the educational mission and interests of the College and/or the safety and welfare of the campus community.
Discipline may be imposed on students for conduct on or off-campus where students are representing the College or participating in College sanctioned field trips or travel (domestic or international).
Students are separately accountable to both civil authorities and to the College for acts which constitute violations of federal, state, or local law, and the Student Code of Conduct, including off-campus conduct.
Proceedings under the Student Code of Conduct are not subject to challenge or revision on the grounds that criminal charges involving the same incident have been dismissed or reduced.
Private off-campus events which are not sponsored or funded by RCSJ will also be subject to discipline where the College determines the conduct has a direct impact on the educational mission and interests of RCSJ and/or the safety and welfare of the campus community.
