Academic Progress

A student at the College is deemed to be in Good Standing when making satisfactory progress toward the completion of program requirements when the student has earned a cumulative grade point average of 2.000 or higher and completed 12 college-level credits. Such determination will be made at the conclusion of each semester.

Academic Warning

A student will be placed on academic warning when the student’s cumulative GPA falls below 2.000 after a minimum of 12 college-level credits has been attempted. Academic warning will be applied at the end of each Fall and Spring parent terms. It is advised that students on warning take no more than 12 credits.

Credits attempted will include all college-level courses listed on the student’s transcript. Foundation course grades are not calculated in academic standing.

Academic Probation

A student will be placed on Academic Probation if, following a semester of Academic Warning, the student fails to achieve satisfactory academic progress and a semester grade point average (GPA) remains below 2.000. Academic standing is reviewed and applied at the conclusion of each Fall and Spring parent term. It is advised that students on probation take no more than 8 credits.

Credits attempted include all college-level courses listed on the student’s transcript. Foundation course grades are excluded from the calculation of academic standing.

Academic Leave

Following a semester of Academic Probation, a student who earns a semester GPA below 2.000 will be placed on Academic Leave from the College for the next semester of enrollment (Fall, Winter, Spring, or Summer). A student placed on academic leave will be provided counseling/advisement with appropriate College personnel regarding reinstatement procedures.

Reinstatement

Following a semester of academic leave, the student may initiate readmission to the College by making an appointment with a counseling advisor, who will discuss campus resources and develop strategies for academic improvement. The student will return on 8 credit probation restriction and must earn a semester GPA of 2.000 or higher. The student will remain on restricted probation until the student’s cumulative GPA has risen to 2.000 or higher. Failure to do so will result in another semester of academic leave from the College.

Removal from Probation Status

A student will be removed from academic probation status when the student’s cumulative GPA has risen to 2.000 or higher. Once removed from probation status for one semester, any student returned to probation status will begin the probation cycle again.
